Second Life Helps Japan & The Pacific Following the Earthquakes and Tsunami, And You Can Too!

Once again Second Life residents and staff are showing their support to others in need. Linden Labs is offering specially made Linden bears in support of Japan and the Pacific following the earthquakes & Tsunami. They have various prices and styles and I bought one as shown in the picture. I am also wearing a free Japan t-shirt I was given when I logged on today that states our thoughts are with them. You can show your support online via the bears in Marketplace here: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/products/search?search[category_id]=&search[maturity_level]=GMA&search[keywords]=relief+teddy+bear or direct link here: LindenReliefBearHere.

The site reads, "Our thoughts are with all of those who are suffering in the devastation caused by the earthquakes in Japan and the tsunami in the Pacific. We encourage all Second Life Residents to support the relief efforts however they can, and we would like to help.

We have created a couple of special Linden Bears (one sitting, one wearable) and set them for sale. We will donate all proceeds from sales of our bears to the Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Relief efforts of the American Red Cross.

Thank you for helping us to support the relief efforts!"

It is also my understanding that soon vendors will have products in support of the relief at this location : World of Beauty, World of Beauty (230, 142, 1002)

SL friend Patrick Thorkveld provided this link and info.: American Red Cross stands ready and willing to assist following a magnitude 8.9 earthquake in Japan and the resulting tsunami that affected other countries in the Pacific region. Anyone wishing to support those efforts should go to www.redcross.org and donate to Japan and Pacific Tsunami. People can also donate $10 by texting REDCROSS to 90999.http://www.wkbw.com/home/Red-Cross-Responds-To-Disaster-In-Pacific-117824793.html Direct link here: RedCrossHere.

Update 3-13-11.. RC this note in SL today saying Japan is not specifically asking for finances as they have those resources, but rather help and goods (of course finances can buy items they need and below lists some places support can be sent directly to besides the international Red Cross)...

"Good Afternoon Everyone,
I'm sure that we have all seen via TV and internet, the mass devastation caused up north by the earthquake and tsunami on Friday. If you would like to know how to help in the relief efforts, please see the details below. This is all voluntary and if you would like to contribute, I am sure anything you can would be greatly appreciated by those effected.

You can send items to these addresses through your local neighborhood Japanese Post Office - they really need -
1. Food (instant foods, dietary supplements, baby foods);
2. Warm blankets (That north part of Japan is still really cold now);
3. Clothing;
4. Baby clothes, and DIAPERS!!!!
